What’s the best game of January?

In the face of the Palworld tsunami that took everyone by surprise, I didn’t have time to talk about a game that was recently released and yet received unanimous praise. I’m talking, of course, about Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Below the image with the rave reviews this game has received from the media and gamers alike since its release.

For the record, I have a real love for this license and Jordan Mechner’s creation. The first time I played it was on Atari ST (for the old-timers who knew it) and I was blown away by the extraordinary quality of its animations, but also by its innovative gameplay based on a one-hour countdown to success.

For me, 2003 marked the return of the chosen one with Prince of Persia Sands of Time on PS2, a game that left a deep impression on me thanks to its fantastic gameplay and marvellous story. There’s a lot more to say about this game, but let’s just say that it also brought to light a Director by the name of Patrice Désilets, who a few years later would work on one of the greatest video game series (in my eyes, of course), the extraordinary Ezio trilogy of Assassin’s Creed 2.

Coming back to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, it’s a very good game, and a very good time to pay tribute to the Ubisoft Montpellier team who have already created extraordinary games such as Rayman Legends (a timeless game that only sold around 5 million units when it deserved 5 times more).

It’s a great joy for me to see the Prince of Persia series return to its roots with a side-scrolling game, a game for real gamers, the return of Ubi Montpellier with a game that’s unanimously acclaimed. All that’s left is to wish it great success, and for my part, to find the time to play it.
